My name is Josh. I’ve been training BJJ full time since I was 18 years old. I dedicated my entire adult life to the pursuit of getting better at BJJ after deciding that I really wanted to learn a martial art and that this was the one for me. I’ve been teaching BJJ for more than a decade now, as my own coach once offered me a position helping to teach the kids. Since then, I fell in love with the idea of one day owning my own academy and continuing to share my passion for BJJ with everyone who cares to listen. Grey Wolf BJJ is my academy, and I’m so grateful that I get to teach what I love for a living!
Recently, I have secured my place in the top 5 Black Belts in Australia based on competition ranking by winning the Australian National Title. As such, I am confident to declare that I can offer world class tuition right here in Brisbane! See you on the mats!
Evan Mattock – Club Manager
My name is Evan Mattock and I’m currently a 3 stripe Blue Belt. I first started training in April of 2019 when I moved to Queensland from Western Australia. Being friends with, Josh he dragged me into class one Monday night after agreeing to give BJJ a go. It only took one lesson and I was hooked. My first week I trained every other day, but the week after until now I’ve trained almost every single session on the timetable. It’s been great for my fitness, having lost a bunch of weight, and for my confidence.
Since I had a background in education, I started helping out with the kids classes on Saturday and after about a year I took over teaching the 2-4 years age group and continued helping out with Saturday and weekday classes as my other employment allowed. These days I have also started taking some of the Intro to BJJ sessions with the adults as well as helping to run marketing and admin for the club, and helping out however I can.
I look forward to continuing my journey in BJJ and hopefully I can help as many people as I can along theirs!
